The Candlelit Dartmouth team is busy organizing this year’s event which will be held on the 12th and 13th December. The inaugural event last year proved to be absolutely magical with processions of beautiful handmade willow and paper lanterns winding through the narrow streets of beautiful Dartmouth. This year’s event will have a much larger procession going through the town - featuring lanterns made by local school children and families. The procession will take place from 6pm on Friday 12th culminating in the greeting of Santa as he arrives from the river.Stilt-walkers, musicians and fairies will also accompany the parade. There will also be late night shopping, a market in the Royal Avenue Gardens, musicians and carol singing at the Bandstand. The park and ride service will be running from 15.30 until 21.30. On Saturday there will be 2 markets – one in the Royal Avenue Gardens and another in the Old Market, running alongside the Farmers Market. There will also be entertainers, including a Samba band, parading the streets and some of the shops will have special offers. Dartmouth has great mix of shops and galleries for doing your Christmas shopping and you’re sure to find something different. Parking in town will be free of charge on this day. The park and ride service will be operating between 08.30 -19.00 and will also be free of charge. Raffle tickets to raise funds and help ensure the future of the Candlelit Dartmouth event are being sold with a first prize of a Jeroboam of Vintage Champagne. A street collection will take place on the Friday night on behalf of Dartmouth Caring - Candlelit Dartmouth’s nominated charity this year.
